- According to the Ministry of Health, in Mexico 3 out of 4 workers suffer from work stress.
- A report by OCC Mundial indicates that 59% of workers do not perceive that their work spaces have measures to care for mental health.

Technology is present in all areas of life. Its impact goes beyond entertainment because it can also be seen in other highly relevant aspects. For this reason, more and more companies use the tools at their disposal to innovate. Such is the case of Momentu, a Colombian healthtech focused on integral health and which for the first time expanded to Mexico.
Before moving forward it is necessary to explain a basic term. A healthtech arises from the union of the English terms “health” and “technology”, that is, health and technology. With this in mind, it is used to refer to companies that create and use healthcare technology to improve their current processes. With this they offer disruptive solutions and also reduce processes.
In this vein, more and more technology companies are showing interest in venturing into the healthcare field. Some of the largest in the world such as Apple, Microsoft and Google They have opened specific areas in which they focus on offering solutions to diseases and illnesses.
The role of companies in caring for the health of their workers
On the other hand, the Insurance for major medical expenses in Mexican companies is usually a complicated issue, both for the company and for the employees. The reasons are its high costs, consultations and bureaucratic procedures, little transparency and unfriendly processes. In addition to this, there is the lack of an increasingly demanded service: mental health care, a point that most insurers do not usually cover.
From this overview, the Colombian healthtech Momentu arrives in Mexico to offer a comprehensive health service through its platform. With his proposal, he seeks to make life easier for companies and save up to 30% of health spending for his clients. Additionally, they also offer mental health and nutrition services, which are aspects that are often ignored by companies.
A necessity for the health of Mexicans
According to Health Secretary (SSa), in Mexico 3 out of 4 workers suffer work stress. Furthermore, according to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (STPS), absenteeism due to mental health issues represents a 23.8% loss in productivity.
Solutions have been proposed from the Government. On one hand, the Official Standard NOM 035 regulates, among other things, the workload and the work environment to prevent psychological exhaustion. On the other hand, the reform in February of this year to the Federal Labor Law obliges companies to support workers who suffer from mental illnesses.
Unfortunately, these measures have been insufficient as they focus mainly on making visible and preventing this type of problem. They do not force companies to give their workers insurance that supports them in case they suffer from their mental health. This creates a gap in the obvious demand and need on the part of employees.
The lack of effective measures in companies is noticeable when observing studies such as that of OCC Mundial, which reports 59% of workers who do not perceive that their employers have measures to care for mental health. With this scenario, Momentu did not hesitate to bring its proposal to Mexican companies.
A new way of caring for the health of employees
Based on this need, Momentu seeks to make it easier for companies to manage health issuesby acting as a link between these and the main insurers in Latin America and integrating complementary services to those that are traditionally fulfilled.
The result? A platform that includes both your insurance for major medical expenses, as well as other services, including mental health and nutrition.
For companies, the startup offers them the opportunity to save costs, by renegotiating the same insurance deal, with the same insurer and current coverage, but 5 to 10% cheaper. On the other hand, it allows Human Resources to have analysis of the use of the benefit by its employees, as well as manage insurance registrations and cancellations from a single place.
