Survey reveals that 62 percent of Mexicans consume novels and series for the dramatic story.
More than half of those interviewed by Netquest claimed to see more than one episode of their favorite titles.
It is the villains of streaming content that earn the preference of Netflix users.
Netflix users in Mexico prefer to watch drama on the streaming platform, as they are looking for more traditional novels, movies and series with highly unfortunate stories.
Between November 2021 and January 2022, based on 1,000 respondents for an investigation of net questit was shown that the 71 percent of Mexicans elevate drama among the most watched genres of audiovisual content. And it is that soap operas are a great representative of this sector and of the television culture that exists in the country, but now in a more comfortable payment system.
According to the preference of the audience, maintaining the novelistic tint in its consumption is importantbut now with the proliferation of streaming platforms they can select their stories, the time they dedicate to it and their daily dose of drama.
Likewise, the provider of data for market research showed that 84 percent of Mexicans manage to see “some or all episodes in a single session”, so the method of one chapter per week is not functional and is even rejected by Netflix users.
What are you looking for in the Netflix drama?
Along with the survey net questit can be verified that the drama is an important consumption figure in streaming in Mexico just by seeing the Top of the most watched on Netflix, where the new version of “Café con aroma a mujer” is currently found, the new generation of “Rebelde” and -for several months- the popular novel by “Betty la ugly”.
Likewise, the video giant highlighted that, in its first 28 days of release, 23 million households around the world watched the Mexican series “Mother there are only two”, while “Who killed Sara?” ranked seventh for most popular non-English speaking series.
However, among the novels generated and broadcast for the Mexican audience, the respondents highlighted the part they like the most and for which they select a production. According to those parametersThe preference falls on the drama of the story (62 percent), the emotion that it generates (60 percent) and the performance of its interpreters (51 percent).
And what would a novel be without villains? The data collected up to the first month of 2022 yielded surprising results, leaving, for example, the antagonists at the top of predilection over the years, even above the protagonists. 35 percent of Netflix users choose the villains as their favorite characters, while 12 percent of viewers choose the “good guy” in the story.
Without a doubt, the study’s conclusion became more relevant with the increase in users on streaming platforms as a result of the pandemic era, where the consumption of series, movies, novels, documentaries, among other formats, was maximized in just over two years, allowing to know what are the tastes, interests and needs of users to create valuable and relevant content that fits their lifestyle.
