Mexican actors Adriana Barraza and Damián Alcázar join the cast of Blue Beetle, a DC Comics movie that will hit the big screen in 2023
The production of Blue Beetle continues to add Latin talent to its ranks, and great Mexican actors join the project directed by Angel Manuel Soto, Adriana Barraza and Damián Alcázar.

The Wrap site reports that Adriana Barraza and Damián Alcázar are the new signings of Blue Beetle, a film starring Xolo Marudueña.
Adriana Barraza, who was nominated for an Oscar in 2006 for Best Supporting Actress, will play Nana Reyes. For his part, Damián Alcázar, with tapes in his career such as La Ley de Herodes, El Infierno and La Dictadura Perfecta, will assume the role of Alberto Reyes.
The cast of Blue Beetle is also joined by George Pérez and Elpidia Carrillo, in the roles of Uncle Rudy Reyes and Rocio Reyes, respectively.
Two legends of Mexican cinema to the DC Universe
“My goal in finding the family was to be able to have an authentic group of people, not just as authentic on the Latin side, but authentic in the accents and authentic in the overall experience, it was very important to me to have the elders of the family be from MexicoSoto told The Wrap.
The filmmaker also wants to pay tribute to Adriana Barraza and Damian Alcazar, two actors who have raised the name of Mexico.

In the comics, following the passing of Dann Garrett and Ted Kord, Jaime Reyes is the third bearer of the Blue Beetle mantle in the comics pages, debuting in Mystery Men Comics #1 (August 1939).
Blue Beetle is the third DC Comics movie confirmed to be released in 2023. The first is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, scheduled for March 17, and The Flash, which will arrive on June 23.
With the direction of Angel Manuel Soto and the stellar performance of Xolo Marudueña. Blue Beetle will hit theaters on August 18, 2023.
