The mexican industry projects sales in excess of 300,000 million dollars in the next five years, Faced with a growing demand for manufactured productsassured this Tuesday Carlos Mortera, international director of the Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT, in English) for Latin America.
In the middle of the second edition of the International Technology and Manufacturing Fairthe executive mentioned that this favorable perspective for the Mexican manufacturing sector derives from the relocation of companies, a phenomenon known as “nearshoring”.
The industrial chambers and the large consumers of transformation equipment are realizing that there is yet another aspect of demand”,
pointed.
Mortera explained that the five-year outlook has gone from 260,000 to 295,000 million dollars in a conservative scenario.
However, he said that removing the “conservative outlook” could have an additional 20% that could push manufacturing sector profits above $300 billion.
It is a conservative number because there is so much demand and needs to continue growing and normalizing the commercial relationship and the supply relationship in the Americas region, it is an important opportunity”,
added the businessman.
The AMT executive explained that these benefits from the trade of manufactured products permeate sectors such as automobiles and auto parts, which account for 45% of the total production of the sector, as well as industries such as construction, agri-food, machinery and equipment, household appliances, among others.
For his part, he pointed out that there is a shortage of skilled labor throughout the Latin American region, and even in North America.
In this sense, Mortera pointed out that only in the United States there is an estimated need for 1 million workers in the manufacturing industry, while for Latin America it is estimated that it reaches 1.5 million qualified personnel.
Of this amount in the Latin American region, 60% corresponds to the lack of labor by Mexicans, equivalent to 900,000 workers.
We have more than 2.5 million as a deficit of trained technical personnel, so that is why AMT is promoting a tool at the Latin American level, which is a totally online technical training platform ”,
detailed.
