UH-PET, Mexican clothing for pets, emerged in 2019 after Ana Samperio rescued a dog from the street whom she named Güera. The puppy felt very cold and a neighbor told her: “Do something to cover it up.” So, she bought fabric and made him a jean vest. People loved the garment and suggested Ana make clothes for the lomitos.
This entrepreneur is an administrator by profession with a master’s degree in Social Responsibility. In high school she had a sewing and clothing workshop and that made her entrepreneurship easier. She has been collecting for more than 20 years dogs of the street. He feeds them, bathes them, sterilizes and vaccinates them, puts them up for adoption and monitors them.
Time progressed and he was introduced to Sandra Mendoza, a veterinary doctor who made clothes for pets and already had machinery and all the tools. So, they teamed up. Together they have been building the company. They already have their trademark registration and barcode. They sell at Super Kompras, in the UNAM store, on Amazon and SHEIN.
“I am part of the Mexican Association of Women Business Managers (AMMJE). I am accredited to the Cemefi, Mexican Center of Philanthropy. I have participated in the Ibero-American Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair (FIIE) of Coparmex; and at the Basler Feinmesse international fair, as well as at Expocomer Panamá,” comments Ana Samperio, founder and general director of UH-PET, which has the slogan: “Your pet is your reflection.”

Many people say to this entrepreneur: “Buy Chinese and resell it”. She refuses to do it because it doesn’t go with her code of ethics. In fact, UH-PET is a designer brand. Soon, they will open their own store called Boutique de Diseño y Moda Mexicana to Pets.
“Since I made my first garment I tried to make it very professionally because I do put a lot of effort into it. I am very detailed, I don’t know if it is a quality or a defect. But I pay a lot of attention to the finish. I have also looked for alternatives to provide better quality and price,” says the interviewee for entrepreneur.com
Ana Samperio, founder and general director of UH-PET
UH-PET receives donations of scraps of shawls and with that scraps they make applications on the garments. They are looking for other materials such as blankets or linen. “We have realized that we are already invaded in terms of fabrics by the Chinese market. However, we do not stop looking for options. For example, we have a Mexican fabric supplier.”
His best advice is to undertake with a cause. Not just to sell or so that others see that you are socially responsible. “Companies should be more human than commercial. You can have the best idea, concept or product, but if we don’t have love, we are nothing. NOM 035 is already an action to prevent psychosocial risk factors.”
