Line 7 runs through the Mexican capital from the terminal stations Dead Man’s Canyon (south) to El Rosario (north) and connects with other lines.
“Around 3:47 p.m. today, there was a separation of carriages at the Polanco station on line 7, with no injuries. A complaint is made to the Prosecutor’s Office for being a totally atypical situation. We are working on restoring the service”, the director of the metro, Guillermo Calderón, pointed out on social networks.
In addition, the STC warned on Twitter that the service was “momentarily stopped on Line 7, a train is being evacuated for review. System personnel work on site.
It also announced that the line offered provisional service from the Tacuba stations to El Rosario and from Barranca del Muerto to Tacubaya. “There is no service from Tacuba to Tacubaya on Line 7, system personnel work in the area,” he explained.
Around 7:18 p.m., the Metro reported that Line 7 was already operating at all its stations.
Some users also reported the separation of the wagon through videos and photographs in social networks.
The incident this Sunday occurred after the reopening of line 12.
After 20 months, line 12 of the Mexico City subway partially reopened this Sunday after closing due to the collapse of May 3, 2021 that left 26 dead and more than 100 injured, amid growing controversies due to the increase in accidents and the deployment of National Guard agents.
The reopening of line 12, which has original defects, occurs in the midst of a new controversy over the insecurity and lack of maintenance of the capital’s subway, this after the collision of two convoys of line 3 in the north of the city on January 7an accident that caused the death of an 18-year-old girl, 106 injuries and the suspension of service for several days.
In addition, during the week there were several incidents that caused the eviction in some stations of the system, to which was added that of this Sunday. the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum, requested the federal government to deploy 6,000 troops of the militarized National Guard, who since last Thursday have watched, unarmed, the stations, platforms and carriages of the subway.
Last Friday, Sheinbaum reported that there was an investigation to determine if there was sabotage in the capital’s subway after those events.
And this Sunday, the official said that during the week “unusual failure events occurred, these atypical failures They do not have to do with the maintenance of the metro, these failures in many cases have to do with intentional events”.
