After its name change from Facebook to Meta last October, this Friday, February 18, Mark Zuckerberg’s company announced that it has just held its first formal presentation with advertisers to present its metaverse proposal.
With its message: “The metaverse is closer than you think”, the parent company of Facebook kicked off its virtual meeting that was led by Asher Rapkin, global business director of the Meta metaverse, Jason Dailey and Bianca Bradford, heads of the advertising agency team.
During the presentation of this new technology, brand executives explained that everything related to augmented reality is available today.
They explained that vendors already have it and can use it so widespread adoption could be only a couple of years away.
They also add that most brands are rushing to benefit from the metatarsus, which is why many have already launched various initiatives.
“The event attendees did not talk about paid advertising products. It was a nice wink before they unleash their sales force on the brands”, said one of those present.
During the event, executives from the technology company suggested “that agencies ask their clients how they will participate in a virtualized economy.” In that sense, they indicated that attending real-world sporting events through the virtual platform such as Horizon Worlds would be “the next great application of the metaverse.”
Among other topics discussed at the Meta event, it was revealed that creators will be the key to introducing the general public to the metaverse. As they also wrote ARVR and mixed reality as three different types of metaverses, with Instagram Stories being the first example of the latter.
In the first presentation, Meta officials warned that the tech brand is also looking into different ways to address bullying and safety in the metaverse. Explaining that one idea to solve this problem was to use surveys to eliminate users “considered toxic” and make it easier for users to leave virtual spaces when they feel uncomfortable, said another attendee.
