In 2022, new car sales in Mexico reported growth of 7.03 percent, compared to the previous year.
Until 2020, the year of the pandemic, the Mexican car fleet was 50.3 million light and heavy vehicles.
The best-selling brands in that year, in Mexico, were Nissan (168,940 units), General Motors (165,117 units), Toyota (96,387 units), KIA (89,140 units) and Volkswagen (85,941 units).
YouTube and Maps, two of Google’s most popular platforms, will now be part of the “content” -so to speak- of Mercedes vehicles, thanks to a recently announced alliance.
In these times, strategic alliances, in addition to being necessary, are vital for brands and industries, especially at a time when consumers are much more demanding and have very different values.
And it is that, in this sense, we come from a period in which, due to Covid-19, various industries saw their income decrease considerably. In this sense, the automotive industry, in 2020, was able to contribute around 2.6 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) in Mexico, which represented a slight drop of 0.4 percentage points compared to 2019, when the participation of the automobile sector in the national GDP reached 3.04 percent, this, according to information from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
It should be noted that Mexico is, without a doubt, one of the countries where the vehicle fleet has been increasing more and more. Data from INEGI itself reveal that, between 1980 and 2020, the year of the pandemic, the number of vehicles duly registered and in circulation in Mexico multiplied more than eight times. Thus, until a few years ago, the Mexican car fleet was 50.3 million light and heavy vehicles.
Based on this premise, last year, according to official information, New car sales in Mexico reported growth of 7.03 percentcompared to the previous year, selling a total of 1,086,058 units.
The best-selling brands in that year were Nissan (168,940 units), General Motors (165,117 units), Toyota (96,387 units), KIA (89,140 units) and Volkswagen (85,941 units). Mercedes, for its part, was ranked 17th with 15,515 units.
