Located next to the famous and beautiful Casa Rocamora, this great hotel is posited as one of the new cultural and social epicenters of Barcelona. Innovation, technology, local art and music They are an essential part of a very strong identity that breathes energy and reflects the creativity of their predecessors in Dubai, Milan, London, Madrid or Ibiza, today important hospitality references in each of these destinations.
In this same line, ME Barcelona is positioned as a cultural and artistic catalyst in the Catalan capital, serving as a meeting point and common link for local and international talent. With its opening, the hotel transforms the hotel bet of Barcelona and renews the current definition of luxury hotel, closer to creative universes and personalized experiences, tailor-made for your guests.
The next November 25 opens the ME Barcelona hotel, the first five stars of the brand which has opened in Barcelona since 2008, and which is added to the one that Meliá Hotels International already has in Catalonia: ME Sitges Terramar.
Taking as a starting point this spectacular location, ME Barcelona combines contemporary and avant-garde art, thanks to the architectural work carried out by the renowned Barcelona studio FITARQ and the development of interior design concepts by Mur Arquitectos and ASAH. The new hotel has been completely transformed to offer a contemporary design, and maintaining hallmarks such as its already recognized “cultural programs”, ME + and stewardship under the “Aura Team” seal.
After 6 years of building renovation and the adaptation of the interiors, each of the spaces and rooms breathes the DNA of the ME by Meliá brand, but this time with a much more evolved look that goes further. Each of the 164 rooms and suites, as well as the common areas, where both the traveler and the local public can enjoy fascinating and inspiring spaces unique to the city, are the result of a design exercise designed to offer the highest quality and a modern experience where each of environments are an example of connection with culture.
It has had suppliers, manufacturers and designers both local and international, as well as with renowned firms and designers for furniture, fabrics, lamps, coatings, glass and lighting to reinforce and convey to guests the whole essence of the city from a current perspective. Jaime Hayón, Patricia Urquiola, Oscar Tusquets, Ramón Úbeda, Otto Canalda, Antoni de Moragas, Ronan and Ewan Bouroullec They are part of the list of designers who sign part of the furniture and singular pieces.
The rooms and suites are decorated in neutral tones, winks in yellow, natural finishes and signature pieces such as decorative glass bottles by Josep Ma Jujol, Antoni Gaudí’s closest collaborator designed the Casa de Familia bottle in 1912, and more than a century later it is an icon that is part of ME Barcelona’s interior design.
From the Oscar Tusquets tables in ash to the suspended lamps for the bedside tables of the rooms and suites, or the Roll Club armchairs In vibrant hues by Patricia Urquiola for Kettal, every detail in the hotel has been inspired by the city’s own love of design. The result is very relaxing and inspiring stays where the Mediterranean and the city of Barcelona are the common threads.
The hallway signage is a tribute to Barba Corsini, an architect from Barcelona who in the 60s designed the apartments in the gulfs of La Pedrera, a Gaudí building. One of the elements he designed was the lamp that inspired him to make the signs and illuminate the hotel corridors.
ME Barcelona has the BELBO Barcelona gastronomic space, with two restaurants, Terrenal, a Mediterranean restaurant that will be a green oasis within the city, and Fasto, an Italian restaurant with a rogue touch that will give off elegance and sensuality, both managed by the BELBO Collection group , to which is added Luma, a cocktail bar that pays tribute to the Mediterranean origin of the art of distillation, and more than 1,000 square meters of terraces landscaped. As a novelty and in line with the brand’s commitment to the environment, the hotel has your own urban garden that supplies the best raw materials to its restaurants.
On the eighth floor and with the best views of Plaça Catalunya, the Rooftop ME Barcelona terrace with its heated pool. A place with spectacular views with an exceptional backdrop such as the Barcelona skyline.
The hotel he does not forget the pets either and has designed a new pet pack consisting of a walk service and an activity plan for the animals, as well as special details in the rooms to make them feel better than at home. True to the commitment to sustainability of ME by Meliá and the rest of the Meliá Hotels International brands, ME Barcelona is committed to energy self-efficiency and renewable sources. 100% of the domestic hot water will be produced using the hotel’s energy, obtained through the recovery of heat from the air conditioning.
