Learn and help at the Tortuguero Camp
Officially the Marine Turtle Protection and Conservation Camp, this place was created to promote education and protection of the sea turtle species that come to this area to lay their eggs.
Through a program of reception and stay for volunteers, the camp carries out different tasks such as searching for nests, collecting and transporting eggs to the incubation pens, supporting nearby communities and releasing turtles.
They also carry out cleaning campaigns, community work with the different towns of the region, reforestation of mangroves and timber trees.
The camp accepts visits from tourists and it is possible to get involved in some of the tasks of the day. Hopefully, it will be your turn to help the little turtles to reach the sea.
