John Constantine sacrificed his life to save his companions from an alien technology, the Source of the Empire. Upon dying, Constantine prevents this fountain from exploding, but the team is affected.
Now Matt Ryan will return to the seventh season, to play a new role, a scientist from the beginning of the 20th century, who will help the crew of the Waverider when they are stranded at a specific time.
In an interview for comicbook, Matt Ryan spoke of his new responsibility within the series produced by DC Comics and the CW network.
“I was always working within a certain framework with John, or was I trying Legends is a really fun and wacky show, and now I don’t have to take that much care of John. So I have an opportunity to live there creatively, as an actor with this new character, which maybe I didn’t have with John. It was a different challenge, obviously“
Will there be a new John Constantine in the near future?
Matt Ryan knows that his cycle as John Constantine, while the longest, may have come to an end, so the Welshman spoke about what he hopes to see with the paranormal detective.
“As a fan, I am very excited to see where he is going to go next. And I can really get excited about that, whether it’s on TV or in a movie, or Keanu will play it, or whatever… “I’m just saying, ‘Okay, what is John doing?’ And I am his biggest fan. So that’s really exciting for me. Really exciting”.
The seventh season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will premiere on October 13 on the CW network in the United States.
