Mastercard announced the launch of a Multi Token Network (MTN) designed to make transactions within ecosystems of digital assets and blockchain are secure, scalable and interoperableallowing payment and commerce applications to be more efficient.
The MTN that Mastercard is starting to test has four pillars:
- Confidence in the counterparty
- Trust in digital payment assets
- Trust in technology
- Confidence in consumer protection
“It’s a natural evolution that demonstrates Mastercard’s commitment to offering a broader range of secure, easily accessible and always-on payment solutions. Our objective is support the digital asset industry in general and to stakeholders to help build confidence in their future“, so he pointed out Raj Dhamodharan, Executive Vice President of Blockchain and Digital Assets.
Starting in the third quarter, the beta version of MTN will be available in the UK and will act as a testbed to develop live pilot applications and use cases with financial institutions, fintechs and central banks. Over time, Mastercard plans to make MTN available in additional markets around the world.
As of today all Santander customers will be able to have cash in all 7-Eleven without the need to make a minimum purchase, this after announcing an alliance with the chain of stores. These cash withdrawals may be made 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including Sundays and holidays. Although yes you will have to pay a commission of 15 pesos.
While the maximum amount to be withdrawn will be 2 thousand pesos, subject to the availability of cash in the box. But to be able to make the provision it will be necessary to have Chip+PIN. In total, all Santander clients will already have more than 13,000 establishments to make withdrawals.
