There wasn’t a single Marvelite on Earth who didn’t plead for the return of Daredevilor rather, that he did not wish to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after his successful passage through his series on Netflix.
Superbly portrayed by actor Charlie Cox, the character of Matt Murdock returned in a brief cameo in the critically acclaimed Spider-Man: No Way Home. but then he did it with greater prominence in She-Hulkthe most recent MCU series on Disney +, exactly in the eighth and penultimate chapter of the program.
However, some fans are not happy about the return of the devil from Hell’s Kitchen in the series about Jennifer Walters, played by Tatiana Maslany, and have shown their disappointment for some changes that Daredevil seems to present, compared to what is seen in the fiction of the Marvel universe – Netflix.
Next, we are going to explain the three reasons why the return of Daredevil in She-Hulk has generated controversy, making it very clear that the following paragraphs include spoilers for the series.
Appearance
As revealed in trailers and promotional posters for She-Hulk, Daredevil appears in a different guise, a yellow and red costume that is a nod to one well-remembered by readers of the comics, but not by fans of the series.
Let’s remember that many of the viewers and fans of the MCU do not read the comics, so this new outfit generated a bit of noise for some fans.
Writer and producer Jessica Gao explained in an interview with TheDirectcited in hypertextualthat the history of She-Hulk works as a “capsule” of situations in Marvel, that is, that the appearance and behavior of Murdock will not be definitive in the MCU.
“Our version gets to be a little different than the one that will be in your seriesGao said.
Personality
By “behavior,” Gao was referring to the different personality that Daredevil displays, remembered for his coldness in his Netflix series.
In She-Hulk, the lawyer and superhero maintains a more humorous posture, attached to the tone of the program. Will this “funny” Daredevil be the same from the long-awaited series Daredevil: Born Again? According to Charlie Cox, the shows will not be linked and the devil’s next series from Hell’s Kitchen will be “a new beginning.”
Plot
Another criticism for the return of Daredevil was the argument in which it reached She-Hulk, beyond that it appears as the defender of the fashion designer who denounces one of Jennifer’s clients.
As if it were a joke, which it was not, the script marked a rushed sexual scene between Matt and Jen, as if they were “destined” by an obvious attraction between the characters, which many fans found unnecessary, rushed and artificial.
The final and ninth episode of She-Hulk premieres this Thursday, October 13.
