The penultimate episode of the Marvel Studios animated series What if…? seems to lay the foundation for Guardians of the Multiverse (Spoilers notice)
Since long before the premiere of What if…? We have heard that the first animated series from Marvel Studios would present the Guardians of the Multiverse, but as the series developed it seemed that the moment was not going to come, but with what if … Ultron won? anticipates that we will see that moment in the final chapter of the first season.
It seems that we already have the great villain of the Marvel Studios animated series, What If…?, if in the chapter What if … Thor was an only child?, we saw at the end Ultron with the appearance of Vision invading his world carrying the gems of infinity, in What if … Ultron wins? we visited the reality where the Avengers failed to intercept the Cradle, and Ultron managed to transfer into Vision’s body. After gaining the power of the Mind Stone, the villain unleashed his master plan unleashing destruction on earth to end humanity and assassinate some of the most powerful Heroes on Earth. Later, when Thanos arrived to get hold of the Mind Stone, he did not expect to meet Ultron who cut the Mad Titan in half and upgraded himself with the six Infinity Stones.
However, Black Widow and Hawkeye have survived and remain on Earth trying to find a way to stop Ultron, who enacts a plan that sees him destroy almost all sentient beings that exist in the entire cosmos.
Accomplishing his mission leaves the android without a goal … until he suddenly reaches a higher state of consciousness and is able to traverse realities after listening to the narration of The vigilant. With that, Ultron has access to the entire Multiverse (represented here as a series of prisms) and ends up fighting Uatu through a number of different realities, including one in which Steve Rogers is taking his oath of office as President of the United States. currently.
Black Widow and Hawkeye find a way to defeat the villain, discovering the location of a computer that still contains a copy of Arnin Zola’s consciousness, with a plan for him to break into Ultron’s system and stop him, but expect you to be in a different universe. Meanwhile, a desperate Watcher joins the Doctor Strange Supreme and he begins to form a team, of which I venture that they will be part with all security, Thor if he were an only child, who meets this version of Ultron and whom we have seen in the previews with Doctor Strange Supreme, Captain Carter , Spider-man from the Zombie Universe, T’Challa as Star Lord, and probably the version we saw of Killmonger, Gamora, and Black Widow.
It is now clear that Guardians of the Multiverse they will reunite in the final chapter of the first season (a second has already been announced) in an attempt to take down Ultron. The Watcher has broken his oath not to intervene, of course, and it will be interesting to see if any of this ends up influencing the live-action films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after What if…?
