What is this technology and how does it work?
The first thing you should know is that both web 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 work almost entirely through databases. A database is information belonging to the same context, ordered in a specific way. An inventory is a database. The list of collaborators, in the marketing department, is also a database. Almost any Excel file, which you have on your computer, is a database.
And in general, everything you see on the Internet is a database. Airbnb is a database of houses and apartments where you can stay; Facebook is a database of people, photos, groups, products and much more; YouTube is a database of videos.
When you create a Facebook post, or upload a video to YouTube, what you are doing is modifying the databases of these platforms. When you want to watch that video, or listen to a song on Spotify, what you do is access the database on the company’s servers.
Web 3.0 is also based on databases. The difference (with web 2.0) is that they are concatenated and wrapped in an encrypted code, which makes them totally secure, independent and transparent. It seems like a minor change, but it makes a big difference. These new databases are called, in English, blockchain, or chain of blocks, in Spanish. An incredible technology, which is the center of the Metaverse.
Every time a change is made within the network, a new block is added to the chain. Each of these blocks contains all the changes that have been made since the first one was created. If someone wanted to change something, within the chain, it would be necessary to change all the blocks at once. When the chain is large enough, this becomes virtually impossible to perform.
In almost all blockchain there is no central node on which the entire network depends; on the contrary, there are endless decentralized nodes, located in different parts of the world. To attack this type of networks it is necessary to attack each node separately. With today’s computing powerthat we humans have, it is impossible to carry out an attack like these, which makes the network practically impossible to violate.
There are various networks or blockchain. The most famous is the Bitcoin network, followed by Ethereum, Cardano, Solana, Avalanche, among many others. Together, these networks make up the metaverse. If you want to create your own network, it is totally possible. Although it is only recommended in very special circumstances, since they require a high expenditure of resources for their creators.
I invite you to learn more about this fabulous technology. You can start by reading the white paper by Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin. A historical document that will help you understand more about this incredible ecosystem. You can find it on our website nacionnft.com/bitcoin.
