One of the Star Wars series of the so-called MandoVerse, Ahsoka, begins production and we already have images of one of the recording sets
Lucasfilm is about to begin production on its upcoming Star Wars live-action series, Ahsoka. Series that will star one of the most beloved characters of the legendary animated series, Clone Warscontinuing both the mission he is on in the MandoVerse and the search for Ezra Bridger that began at the end of another animated series, Star Wars Rebels, which should mean the live action debut of Sabine Wren, a much-loved character from Rebels with whom she embarks on that search for Ezra. Actress Rosario Dawson will return to play the character she first brought to life in the second season of The Mandalorian and later on boba fett bookwith Dave Filoni serving as writer and showrunner.
A series with many things to tell
In general, the Ahsoka series has a very open story. His appearance in The Mandalorian revealed that he was on the hunt for Grand Admiral Thrawn, in order for him to tell him the whereabouts of Ezra Bridger, who will apparently be played by Mena Massoud (an actor we saw in the Aladdin live-action movie), but once he fulfills this mission, anything can happen. According to rumors, Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in the series, likely as a Force ghost and perhaps even in flashbacks. For Ahsoka Tano herself, the series promises to be as much of an emotional journey as it is a physical one.
With the start of production imminent, the first images from the series’ set have been leaked, hinting at where Ahsoka’s story of what looks like the ruins of an ancient temple may take us.
According to Bespin Bulletin Filming will take place at Manhattan Beach Studios and the train yard location, the latter of which houses the temple ruins set. Filming for the series is said to begin in late April, though it could be pushed back to early May.
But are they ruins of a Jedi temple?
Since Ahsoka has clear ties to the Jedi, venturing into an ancient Jedi temple as part of her quest would be a natural choice. While Ahsoka isn’t a Jedi, Ezra Bridger is, and it’s possible the temple could leave clues to her whereabouts. If Ezra visited the site at some point he could have left a trail for Ahsoka to follow.
The big question that these images leave is where the ruins of this temple really are. Few in the galaxy seem to know where Ezra and Thrawn went after the end of Rebels, though Ahsoka was able to get a clue from the Calodan Magistrate in The Mandalorian. The temple is most likely somewhere in the Unknown Regions of space, a place few Jedi would have had the chance to explore even before Order 66 wiped them out.
But…there’s also the possibility that the ruins belong to a Sith temple…perhaps one that Star Wars fans are already familiar with. The planet Malachor hosted the monumental events of “Twilight of the Apprentice” in Rebels, housing a massive Sith temple that was eventually destroyed. Darth Vader was seen emerging from the rubble at the end of the episode, and audiences now know that Ahsoka also survived the collapse, thanks in part to Ezra traveling back in time to rescue her from her.
If the series does eventually feature Hayden Christensen as a cast member, the chances of flashbacks to Vader’s duel with Ahsoka on Malachor are high.
