Apart from those that are mandatory in the primer, your little one must have the complete outline.
In Mexico, all babies and children from zero to nine years old have the right to receive a document called the National Health Card where, in addition to having a list of the vaccines and the ages and doses in which you should give them to your little one, you can find them at which is indicated step by step the doses that, for free, can be applied to your child in different institutions and also, a growth guide.
But there are some vaccines that protect you from other diseases and that do not appear in the primer, but are just as important, such is the case of:
Chickenpox
It is a contagious infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus that manifests with blisters and a rash. It is spread through the air by coughing, sneezing, touching or rubbing the blisters of someone who is sick. And the recommended doses are two, at 12 months and at 4 and 6 years the reinforcement.
Hepatitis A
This causes inflammation and irritation of the liver with symptoms such as fever, dark urine, nausea, vomiting and lack of appetite. It can be contracted by eating or drinking something contaminated by feces that contain it, such as fruits, vegetables or seafood, and even by touching objects. Two doses are recommended, the first at 12 months and the booster at 18 or 24 months.
Meningococcal meningitis
It is a disease caused by a bacteria called meningococcus that inflames the membranes that line the brain and spinal cord. It is treated with antibiotics but it is very annoying and risky for children, as it presents with severe headache, fever, chills, changes in mental state, sensitivity to light, stiff neck and red spots on the skin. Brain damage is one of its most serious consequences. A single dose is required at 12 months of age.
Human papilloma
More than 100 types of HPV or human papillomavirus are known, some of which are acquired through sexual contact and cause warts. Its objective is to protect girls because this condition is the main cause of cervical cancer and it is also recommended for boys before they start their sexual life. There are three doses from 9 years, two months later, and the third, 6 months later.
The government vaccination campaign applies it to girls in fifth grade who study in public schools or 11 years old if they are not enrolled in the educational system.
