Junior now ready to live a new experience with Walter Ormeño in the Peru Cup?
A different experience but I think that with the technical command that has come to the team things feel like they are professional.
You arrived at the request of Juan Alayo who was in Sport Boys
I’ve known him (Juan Alayo) for years, it’s the first time I’ve worked with him but I feel very good.
And are you going to play in a club that is traditional?
Ormeño has surprised me a lot, he has many fans, he is like a Boys in Callao. I’m really surprised by how many people are fans of this team.
Should there be a lot of expectation in the streets?
The illusion of the people is felt, that they want the team to be in a higher place, that they can have a great tournament and reach the professional level.
Did you leave Cantolao?
Before Cantolao I was in Sipesa, here in the neighborhood, in Callao I played on a field that is now synthetic. There was Donny Neyra, Roberto Holsen. From there he went to León de Huánuco and immediately to Cantolao, from the age of 10 to 16.
What is your neighborhood?
I am a net chalaco, my neighborhood is Tarapacá with Pedro Ruiz.
Did you get to Bolognesi de Tacna very young?
Bolognesi I will always be grateful because I was given the opportunity to go there very young, several of us went there but I was the only one in my category, there was “Cachito” Ramírez, Johan Vásquez, boys from category 84.
Do you have good memories of your time in Bolognesi?
There are beautiful memories of Tacna, of Bolognesi, of my beginnings, of knowing that it was a responsible team, that it wanted great things and brought out many players.
You had to be led by good coaches who have earned a name today
I started with Roberto Mosquera, then I had Jorge Sampaoli, Juan Reynoso with whom I came out champion, I had technicians who reached important teams, there is (Javier) Torrente too.
At that time, did you imagine going so far?
I think I was visualizing that kind of thing, because of the team you have, because of the quality of the players, there was “Cachito” Ramírez, Renzo Sheput, Rodrigo Saraz, when I started, “Chino” Pereda arrived from Boca. Mosquera made me debut and then took me to Cristal, Sampaoli who was champion with Chile and was in Seville until recently, Juan Reynoso who is now the coach of the Peruvian team.
Have you thought about being a technician at some point?
Right now I am starting in Pirates, who are beginning to play Federation, I have a category there, I feel comfortable. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I’m on a TV show. It’s nice, sharing with fellow soccer players.
You lived very good years in Sporting Cristal
I fell in love with that shirt (Cristal), with that team, not only for the way they treated me but also for the way they treated my family, I have the most beautiful memories.
What anecdotes do you remember?
Most remembered anecdotes for me, I have a lot of appreciation for Carlos Lobatón, the first final of 2012 he told me that I was going to be the protagonist, before the game he approached me to tell me that it was going to be my afternoon and he was not wrong because I did a goal, both in Cusco and Lima.
Did you also play in Sport Boys, which is a very loved team?
The truth is that in Sport Boys the feeling of the family is there, so much was the feeling that when it was my turn to play against the Boys and I scored, I could not enter the house.
And what do you remember about Municipal?
“Muni” is always traditional, it always has history, having been there has been very nice.
You also played abroad
Yes, and I had the chance to leave again after the 2012 I did, but the feeling won me over. I had some offers, but I was more seduced by staying at Sporting Cristal.
Do you regret anything in your career?
You’re welcome, I could have stayed in Europe, but the decisions one makes are written and grateful to God. Happy for the career I have led, I made the decision to come to Sporting Cristal and thanks to that I have my children.
What is the objective with Walter Ormeño?
Ascend, there is no other, always my first objective is to work to achieve the greatest.
What characterizes a chalaco?
More than all the liveliness, the chalaco is alive, it is to be enjoyed, to enjoy everything, it really is not allowed.
Are you a saucer?
Yes, I really like Tony Vega.
And also a cevicher?
I’m not much of ceviche, I like fried fish more than raw.
