On World Tourism Day, Jalisco reaffirmed its commitment to the sector. Thanks to joint efforts between the State Government through the Jalisco Tourism Secretariat (Secturjal), municipalities and private initiative, actions have been consolidated to have growth in influx, economic benefits and job creation. The sustainable development of tourism has also been promoted, promoting livable and visitable tourist destinations.
In the Business Tourism segment, Jalisco is consolidating itself as one of the leading destinations nationwide. During the period from January to September 2023, different events based in the state have been confirmed, thanks to the support and efforts of the Government of Jalisco. Among them are The Ariel Awards, the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2027 World Congress of Dermatology stand out.
Through the “Jalisco is Mexico” brand, the State has been positioned on the international stage and two projects have been carried out to consolidate the brand.
“Jalisco Is Mexico” and “Guadalajara Guadalajara”
Secturjal and the Tourism Trust of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area agreed to a collaboration agreement with Real Sporting de Gijón, until the end of 2023, The brands “Jalisco Es México” and “Guadalajara Guadalajara” will have a presence in different applications of the teamsuch as uniforms, social networks, branding on fences and arches, among others, positioning the name of the state in the European market.
In addition, the agreement with the Formula 1 driver, Sergio “Checo” Pérez” as a tourism ambassador, exposed Jalisco to an average audience of 87.4 million people for each F1 Grand Prix, that is, around 2 billion people worldwide. With this, Jalisco was promoted, as well as Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara and Costalegre, through the chin of the helmet used in each of the races on the world circuit.
Air connectivity continues to strengthen in Jalisco, with a total of 36 flights per week, including new direct routes from Guadalajara to destinations such as Puerto Vallarta, Cozumel and Huatulcoas well as flights from Puerto Vallarta to Culiacán and the increase in the frequency of flights from Guadalajara to Colombia and Madrid.
Promotion of Magical Towns
The Government of Jalisco continues to promote the development of the Magic Towns with a sustainable and inclusive approach, allocating a budget of 21 million pesos (mdp) in 2023 through the Magic Towns Model.
Additionally, with the “Recorramos Jalisco” program, 1,032 people have benefited with 25 trips to 15 destinations in Jalisco, including Costalegre beach.
The Jalisco Tourism Academy has contributed to the professionalization of the state’s tourism industry, with the completion of 21 courses (in-person and virtual) in 2023 and the participation of 716 tourism service providers.
Jalisco celebrated these achievements on World Tourism Day and continues to work hard to maintain its position as a renowned tourist destination nationally and internationally.
