Today the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued a health alert because they have been informed of the presence of Salmonella in a Lidl product. The product name on the label is: BURGUER MEAT CHICKEN – TURKEY; RGSEAA No.: 10.027476/Z; batch number: 3369; and the type of container: plastic tray.
Salmonellosis varies from common gastroenteritis (diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever) to enteric fevers (infection causing diarrhea and rashes); life-threatening diseases, especially in children and the elderly, which require immediate antibiotic treatment.
The AESAN was made aware of this event thanks to an alert sent by the health authorities of the Autonomous Community of Aragon. As reported by the agency, the product has been marketed throughout Spain and the information has been transferred to the health authorities of the other autonomous communities thanks to Sciriwhich is the Coordinated System for the Rapid Exchange of Information in order to withdraw the affected batches.
for now there have been no cases of salmonellosis associated with this health alert. Despite this, it is strongly recommended that people who have purchased this product do not consume it and return it to the point of sale.
On the other hand, the AESAN comments that “in the case of having consumed these products and present some symptomatology compatible with salmonellosis (mainly diarrhea and/or vomiting accompanied by fever and headache) it is recommended to go to a health center.”
