It seems that the fourth wave is on the decline. Perhaps it is too early to claim victory, but both the number of Covid-19 infections and hospitalizations are declining, at least that is what the health authority tells us.
Within the framework of the “Pulse of Health” of the presidential morning conference, Hugo López-Gatell, Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion of the Ministry of Health (SSa), announced that Mexico is in a “descent phase” before the current fourth wave of infections. And it is possible that this will also continue for the next few weeks.
The also spokesman for the management of the pandemic assured that the peak of the new wave has passed, so the high registered infections will decrease over the weeks, perhaps at a speed similar to the rise.
It should be said that the supposed decline of this new wave is entirely possible, because that is what has happened in other latitudes, such as in South Africa, where this contagious Omicron variant emerged, because just as it emerged, it grew, developed and left. This variant was announced in November and at the end of December it was already in sharp decline. The following week will be crucial to know if this is confirmed.
In this way, now Mexico is leaving behind the high rates recorded at the beginning of January and is entering the “decrease phase”. This is very positive, since there is a 31% reduction in estimated cases in the country compared to previous weeks.
Mexico has reached the maximum point -ACME-, since on the last day of January 12,521 new infections and 198 deaths from Covid-19 were detected.
Throughout the pandemic, 4,942,590 positive cases and 306,091 deaths have been reported in Mexico. The SSa stressed that so far there are 230,308 estimated active cases of Covid-19, as well as 634,090 suspects.
Renowned cardiologist Sergio Trevethan Cravioto recently presented his book “The frescoes of Diego Rivera”, which reveals the mysteries of those paintings by the Mexican muralist that have adorned the National Institute of Cardiology for decades.
When he was just a teenager, Trevethan knew Rivera’s frescoes, and since then, they caught his attention and he has reflected on the characters portrayed in the work, because they carry the knowledge and science that has allowed cardiology to be what it is today. in day.
The book was finished a couple of years ago, but the doctor had not found a sponsor for his work, until Armstrong Laboratories raised his hand. Thanks to this support, it was possible to edit, design and print this book, which was made without profit. Will have to get it soon. Congratulations.
- And the anti-Covid vaccine for children under 12 years of age, for when? While other countries advance in vaccination for this age group, here we continue in the politics misinterpreting the explicit recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) on this subject.
