Robert Downey Jr. left an indelible mark on the Marvel Cinematic Universe before saying goodbye to his iconic role as Hombre de Hierro in “Avengers: Endgame.” However, in the fabric of alternate realities that make up this universe, death is not necessarily the end. In exciting news for fans, the legendary Tony Stark will return in the second season of “What If…?”.
Despite his sacrifice to defeat Thanos, Iron Man remains an influential presence in the MCU, and his legacy lives on. A clear example of this is the armor that Riri Williams, played by Dominique Thorne, creates to join the fight against the forces led by Namor in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
Iron Man would finally return to the MCU
But Stark’s influence goes beyond inspiring new heroes on the big screen. He has also appeared in four episodes of “What If…?”, though sadly in three of them he has met his death. In these alternate episodes, Hank Pym has his circulatory system attacked, Hope Van Dyne decapitates him as part of a zombie apocalypse, and Ultron kills him after manipulating Vision.

A “What If…?” special
Previous rumors suggest that this chapter will present an alternate version of the events of “Thor: Ragnarok”, in which Iron Man will arrive on Saakar instead of the God of Thunder. While we wait for further updates, Disney+ is scheduled to premiere the second season of “Loki” after “Secret Invasion”.
The new episodes of the series starring Tom Hiddleston will be available on the platform from October 6. The return of Iron Man is an exciting surprise for fans of the MCU, and makes it clear that in the world of Marvel, the possibilities are endless and stories can take unexpected turns.
