During the first quarter of 2021, Xiaomi’s sales grew 73% compared to the same period of the previous year. And, apparently, the Chinese company has not stopped stepping on the accelerator pedal in the second quarter of the year. Xiaomi has overtaken Apple and placed second on the list of biggest smartphone sellers.
The first quarter was a great triumph for both Xiaomi, which reached a market share of 18%; as for Apple, which seized a 28% market share in the smartphone sales sector. Ahead of both companies was only Samsung, with 32% of sales.

The analytical entity Canalys has made some market estimates in the mobile telephony sector, concluding that the sale of smartphones has grown by 12% compared to last year.
Compared to the previous one, in this second quarter things have been very even among the main manufacturers. Samsung has a market share of 19%, while Xiaomi follows closely with 17% and Apple in third place with 14% of market share.
Ben Stanton, Canalys Research Manager, stated the following:
«Xiaomi is growing its business internationally rapidly. Its sales have grown more than 300% in Latin America, 150% in Africa and 50% in Western Europe. ”
In another vein, we recently learned that Apple has managed to sell more than 100 million units of iPhone 12 in less than 7 months. Still, it hasn’t been able to stop Xiaomi’s impressive growth.
