The time for speculation is over. The guys from Cupertino have finally presented us with their Apple Event where, reviving the tradition, they have monopolized the spotlight of the month of September to present their new line of smartphones. In this case, the iPhone 14.
Curiously, this device has traveled a slightly different path in relation to models of previous generations. Since the rumors about this new line began several months before the information about the smartphone usually begins to circulate.
With the iPhone 14, the most repeated and consistent leak had been for almost a year that they would finally renew the sensor of the rear camera module to now use one of 48MPall after more than 6 years using the exact same hardware foundation for image capture.
Now the moment of truth has arrived, but first it is prudent to give a brief tour of the rumors prior to the official presentation of the smartphone.
The strongest rumors prior to the presentation of the iPhone 14
With almost a year of accumulated reports, there are many disturbing details about the iPhone 14. Before the start of the Apple Event, these were the three main rumors about the phone:
- In general there would be four models. The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. This means that the mini model would be permanently eliminated.
- On the screen there was talk that there would be two sizes. One of 6.1 inches for the base models and another of 6.4 inches for the most robust. Exactly the same as with the iPhone 13.
- There was also talk that Apple would finally eliminate the use of physical SIM cards to fully adopt an eSIM system.
This is the iPhone 14
Now the moment of truth has come, we find that these are the official final details of the iPhone 14.
The obvious bet here now is to highlight the size of the screen, much larger than ever before with a 6.1-inch display.
Its screen is OLED, with a brightness of 1200 nits, Dolby Vision and five colors: midnight, starlight, blue, purple, and product red. But that is merely superficial.
The battery, for example, improves for now, yes, finally, as promised, to last a full day without having to look for a place to recharge it.
The A15 Bionic processor is the soul of this device in terms of processing, with a six-core CPU. But the interesting part is its new photographic module.
The 12 MP main lens is maintained but now with a larger sensor and 1.9 micron pixels. F1.5 aperture and OIS.
Some substantial improvements are integrated thanks to it, such as a 49% better performance in low-light environments.
We thus have a new TrueDepth f.1.9 camera with autofocus for the first time and a better aperture, which opens the possibility for better photos in burst mode or with little time to frame.
The death of the physical SIM card is confirmed and the use of an eSIM system is 100% integrated. The phone will have support for 5G networks and the new Emergency SOS via satellite function is presented, to be able to request help in any emergency scenario in isolated places.
As for its price, the base model will start at USD $799, while the iPhone 14 Plus will cost USD $899.
The prices remain basically the same as with its predecessor, although the hardware improves a lot. Especially for the camera.
They can be ordered from September 9, but the iPhone 14 will be available on September 16 the base model and the Plus from October 7.
