iOS 18 could be something similar to what many experienced with Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Apple is temporarily stopping development of new features for next year’s updates on iOS, macOS, watchOS and the rest of the operating systems, with the aim of focusing on “improving the quality and performance” of the software, he says Bloomberg.
According to the aforementioned media, the company would have notified the engineers in charge of the development of iOS 18 and the rest of future versions, pause work on new features to focus on fixing the number of bugs that are being reported in the current updates. Bloombergthrough internal sources at Apple, in fact, claims that the software team working alongside Craig Federighi found a number of bugs that were overlooked in internal testing before officially releasing the version.
The pause, which also affects software development for the Apple Vision Pro, will last approximately one week, until the team manages to mitigate the multiple bugs present in current software versions. Of course, although it is an unusual move for Apple, the next updates are not expected to arrive late.
iOS 18, therefore, could be an update similar to the one that many experienced with Snow Leopard, which included practically the same features as the Leopard version, but with bug fixes and performance improvements.
In fact, Bloomberg states that Apple already has the first versions – called M1 – of the upcoming major updates to your operating systems Since last month. These will be transformed over the next year into iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS 15. The M2 versions of the aforementioned operating systems, however, will suffer a slight delay. But, we reiterate, this does not seem to affect Apple’s update schedule.
