Since its premiere last March, Batman has given something to talk about. Whether for its quality, excellent box office results or even its future, but the film of Matt Reeves does not go unnoticed. One of the most outstanding elements of said film were its villains: The Riddler (Paul Dano) and The Penguin (Colin Farrell), who immediately caught the attention of the public. In the case of The Penguin, Warner executives saw that they had many possibilities with the character, so much so that they decided to give him their own spin off in serial format.
After the confirmation of the project, doubts began to arise about the characters that will appear, the time where it will take place and how it will be connected to the film starring Robert Pattinson. In an interview for ExtraColin Farrell detailed his first impressions after reading the first episode of the series and answered some questions from fans:
“It starts about a week after the end of Batman. So, Gotham is still a bit under water. I read the first script for the first episode and it opens with me splashing around in the water inside Falcone’s office. Just that, when I read it, it made me go, ‘Oh, God.
Farrell’s description tells us that the series will leave at the most logical point that fans thought. Following the death of Carmine Falcone, Gotham City’s dirty business has been left without a leader, and Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin might be the most obvious successor to take over. This could set the stage for a much more intense conflict in the Batman sequel, which does not yet have a release date.
“It’s lovely (the script). It is very well written. Lauren LeFranc has done an extraordinary job and is writing everything, besides, she is the showrunner. It’s formidable. An exciting prospect. I love that character. I felt greedy with him. I felt like he didn’t have enough and wanted to do it more and more and more.”
So far there are no more details about the El Pingüino series. Production is rumored to start in the first months of 2023. It is also not known if Robert Pattinson or any other member of the film will appear in this project.
John Joseph Cruz I am one of those who always defended Robert Pattinson as Batman and can see the same movie in the cinema up to 7 times. My guilty pleasure? Low budget horror movies.
