Among some functions not mentioned yesterday at WWDC, we find the possibility of configuring default apps in iOS 14 and iPadOS 14.
Yesterday’s WWDC Keynote has left a lot of news. Most of the new features that iOS 14, iPadOS 14 and watchOS 7 will receive were mentioned yesterday. But there are some of them that were not mentioned and, therefore, are still quite interesting.
One of those that remained in the pipeline is related to iOS 14 and iPadOS 14. It is a function highly anticipated by many users and that was already being rumored. We talk about the possibility of changing the default apps in the system.
With iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 you can change the default apps of the browser and email
As we say this function was highly expected and demanded by many users. And, while many people use the apps that come by default on our iPhone or iPad, there are many other people who prefer alternatives to the default apps. A classic is the use of Chrome instead of Safari on the iPhone and iPad.
And now, with iOS and iPadOS 14, it will be possible to do it natively. But at the moment it seems that it will only be possible to change the default apps in two apps: the web browser and the mail manager. This is what Apple specifies on its website, establishing that we can establish a default email browser and app to open when we click on a link or start a new email.
In this way, Apple has opened its operating system a little more and we are convinced that many of the users who requested this function will be more than satisfied. And is that, browsers and email apps were the most requested alternatives.
What if there are also other default apps that could be good that could be replaced, such as Apple Music for Spotify or Apple Maps for Google Maps. At the moment it is what there is, but it should not be ruled out that Apple will expand this possibility to change the default apps. What do you think of this new feature?
