Police sources indicated in the morning that the woman was found in a room with bars in the town of Forbach, near the border with Germany, naked, malnourished, with a shaved head and fractures.
But the first medical examinations showed that the woman did not present “any fracture” and did not reveal a “significant state of dehydration,” added Glady, who assured that her husband indicated that she had cancer.
Regarding the “semi-nudity” of the wife, this could be due to the time of the man’s arrest, according to the public ministry.
The police arrested him on Monday at 06:00 in the morning and he will remain in police custody for alleged kidnapping, aggravated rape and acts of torture and barbarism until Wednesday morning. The couple is of German nationality.
The prosecutor also denied reports that there was a torture bed in the house. Regarding the bars found, they sought to “prevent” the ten cats that lived with the couple from escaping, he added.
The public ministry also denied the discovery of a “diary” in which the man “would have written down his facts and the moments in which he fed the victim”, as RMC radio had assured.
The security forces intervened in the house after the woman called a German association for the protection of victims, which informed the Wiesbaden police (eastern Germany), the latter confirmed to AFP, which notified the French police.
“I never saw the woman. For me, she never left the home,” Alicia, a neighbor, told reporters, specifying that her husband told “everyone in the building” that she had “cancer.”
