Right now and for a few days now, Windows users, at least many of them, are installing the latest version of the operating system. Specifically, we are referring to Windows 10 version 2004, which was officially launched recently.
As most of you may already know, this is an important feature update, as it comes to us riddled with new features, not as it did with the immediately previous one. However, as many already expected from the beginning, the problems with this version did not wait. Thus, as we have been telling you over the last few days, some users are sending reports about failures detected after their installation.
Crashes with Windows 10 version 2004, do not stop
This, as has happened in the past, is something that does not benefit either users or Redmond’s own firm. Such situations again call into question the reliability of Windows updates. Therefore, the software giant, once the new version has been released, what it is trying now is for in any case that arrival of these potential failures to the equipment of its millions of users.
Well, we tell you all this because, as we are getting to know right now, on certain computers the Windows Update function now displays a banner. Specifically, what it communicates is that our team is not ready to receive the new version of the system. It is easy to imagine that this is intended to prevent users from going ahead with the installation of Windows 10 May 2020 Update on their devices.
The reason for this stop is because that indicated equipment could possibly have compatibility problems after installing the 2004 version. Therefore, the measure taken in Windows 10 version 1909 and earlier, involves informing the user in advance that their device is not completely ready. This prevents that PC from receiving the new Windows 10 feature update.
Microsoft now reports crash of Windows 10 version 2004
In this way, those of Redmond now communicate that those who are interested in receiving the latest update can click on the receive updates button. This can be done on computers running Windows 10 1903 and 1909 from Windows Update. However, due to the many known issues with the new version 2004, it will not be offered to certain devices. For example in those where memory integration is enabled, all due to certain compatibility issues with some display drivers.
These could disable the HVCI on their computers before proceeding to the May 2020 update. In any case, users right now are not very clear about the criteria followed to know which devices are ready for the update. The main reason for all this is that the message that appears does not give many details about all this. In short, it says that the May 2020 update is on the way but that our team is not ready to receive it yet. It is also explained that once it is ready, we will see the update available in Windows Update.
Therefore, if we have received this message, one of the solutions for Windows Update to show the update notification is this. We open the Windows Configuration function and we go to Update and Security / Windows Security / Device Security / Kernel Isolation where we click on Details of kernel isolation. This is where we can already disable the functionality.
