The pandemic was the downfall of many companies, but the same cannot be said for Twitch, which continues to grow as the undisputed leader of streaming platforms.
One of the most popular events within the platform was “The Evening of the Year” created by Ibai Llanos, a streamer, youtuber and esports presenter.
Ibai Llanos is a Spanish streamer, youtuber and presenter of electronic sports; in Twitter It has more than 11 million followers, which places it in fourth place overall for the channels with the most followers on the platform. However, he is also known for creating one of the most viewed events on Twitch, “The Evening of the Year” an event that involves the video game and boxing industry.
However, a few days ago, Lolito, one of the collaborators of the event, commented that he had not seen “not one euro” after his participation in “The Evening of Year 2” and, as expected, Ibai Llanos came out to show his face and explained the origin of this misunderstanding.
The impact of streamers on Twitch
The pandemic saw the downfall of many companies, although the same cannot be said for Twitch, which continues to grow as the undisputed leader of streaming platforms, enjoying a 97 percent increase in hours viewed year over year. Twitch reached new heights in 2020 with its engagement and viewership skyrocketing as the go-to destination for gamers stuck at home.

Ibai Llanos responds for The Evening of Year 2; “Nobody profit with the event”
Returning to Lolito, one of the streamers who collaborated in the event expressed that he had not seen “not a single euro” after his participation in La Soiree del Año 2.
To which Ibai Llanos replied this:
@twitchcompilations Reply to @twitchrecopilaciones What do you think? 🧐🤝 #ibai#ibaillanos#lolito#twitch#laveladadelaño2#for you ♬ original sound – Twitch Compilations
However, Ibai Llanos came out to show his face, saying that it was a misunderstanding
The stream clarified that no one received money:
“Instead of paying them directly, I’m going to let each of them sell their clothes at the Evening. This way they will earn a lot more money.”
“Both the boxers and the participants accepted this deal and monetized their participation through different brand sponsorships.”
Faced with this situation, the streamer He clarified that although they did not pay anything to the boxers directly. However, it seems that this information did not reach Lolito.
“On the subject of Lolito there has been a quite serious communication failure. All the boxers found out what I’m telling you but Lolito was either not told or she didn’t find out”, continued Ibai.
After the controversy, Ibai Llanos offered to pay Lolito the amount he considered pertinent, which I do not accept:
“I don’t need the money,” he said.
