tractian, industrial operating systems company with artificial intelligence (AI), raised an investment of 800 million pesos in its Series B. The investment was led by the General Catalyst fund, one of the most respected and recognized in the world.
The company has experienced exponential growth thanks to the adoption of its cutting-edge technology and its disruptive approach. With this new round of investments, it further strengthens its position as the fastest growing industrial startup, breaking records year after year globally.
From 2022 to 2023 Tractian doubled the amount of clients in Brazil, Mexico and the United States, reaching a total of more than 500 multinational clients such as Grupo Bimbo, La Costeña, Johnson Controls, Avon and Clarios. In addition, the company has experienced a growth of more than 4 times in its revenue between 2022 and 2023.
Tractian grows thanks to nearshoring
As an interesting fact, Tractian currently serves so many industries that it participates in 5% of the GDP of world production. In practical terms, this means that for every $1,000 produced by industry worldwide, $50 is generated in environments using Tractian solutions. In Mexico, considering that 37% of Mexican GDP comes from industries, Tractian has a direct impact equivalent to 246.95 billion dollars.
In addition, the nearshoring boom in the country has caused an important need for professionalization of industries and production lines in all sectors.
“The industrial sector demands more accurate information to avoid failures and stoppages in their production chains,” said Leonardo Vieira, co-founder and CEO of Tractian in Mexico.
“Companies can lose millions by having a stopped machine, in addition to the damage that this can cause to their established commercial commitments. That is why more and more manufacturers are looking to have control of their machines in the palm of their hand. In our case, we have seen demand grow in 70% of the companies with which we already operate in the country”
Vieira asserted.
Pioneers of Assisted Maintenance with artificial intelligence (AI)
As an important milestone, Tractian has inaugurated the Artificial Intelligence Assisted Maintenance (AI-Assisted Maintenance) category in the industrial sector, establishing itself as a leader in the application of this unique technology. This category is based on the concept of assisted prediction, where artificial intelligence (AI) identifies problems in machines and suggests preventive actions to be taken, providing valuable support to maintenance professionals. It is important to note that the concept of Assisted Maintenance is similar to what is happening in the adoption of AI in medicine, where AI is an aid to the doctor, and not a substitution.
The concept, a pioneer in the industry, means that artificial intelligence works like an X-ray analysis. What happens is that the X-ray specialist will probably stop concentrating only on the analysis and start thinking about the treatment. If artificial intelligence can already identify a tumor, for example, the professional will begin to consider what is the appropriate treatment. The collaborators will begin to get more involved in the treatment process, in the post-analysis. After all, the artificial intelligence will not make the decision or the action for the maintenance professional, but it will give him a direction to follow.
