Although it may seem a lie, it has been almost 9 months since Huawei was vetoed by the United States government, which is why the firm can no longer work with most American companies, with Google being one of them. Due to this problem, their next phones will not have Google Play services, such as the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, but last week we learned that Huawei would not include them if the veto was lifted. This war seemed to paint very badly for Huawei, which has just received three important allies: Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo.
We had already seen Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo work together to offer an alternative to AirDrop among the phones of their brands. Well, now they have joined Huawei to create the GDSA (Global Developer Service Alliance ). What is this? Well, perhaps the worst nightmare for Google with its Google Play, it could be the beginning of the independence of its services from some of the biggest brands in the world.
Huawei, Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo together against Google
We have known this thanks to Reuters, who claim to have internal sources that have confirmed that alliance. At the moment none of the companies have officially communicated it, so the real reason is not known, but expert analysts say it is a movement against Google, which we know is not well seen in China. As we can read, these three technology giants (Oppo and Vivo belong to the same group), would have joined together to facilitate the work for developers to take their applications to different app stores simultaneously.
Apparently, it is not a unique measure for the Chinese market, as it would be to encourage developers from outside China to take their products to each brand’s own stores simultaneously, as well as music, movies and games. If the GDSA, the name attributed to this alliance, manages to gain strength among the developers, it could be a blow to Google, because in this case, it would not be any veto, but a decision of its own, so any developer could adapt to these measures to enter a potential market.
For now, it seems that Europe and Latin America will not be the focus of the GDSA, but will start with other markets, such as India or Indonesia, in addition to China. Let’s not forget that only between China and India we are already talking about almost 30% of the world’s population. Therefore, this could be the beginning of a third ecosystem on our mobile devices, away from Google, but with Android as a base and a good number of multinationals supporting the project.
