Last Monday, September 20, Apple released the stable version of iOS 15, which came with interesting news that seek to give iPhone users greater stability and productivity. However, one of the most interesting features was being able to use FaceTime outside of iOS, iPadOS or macOS.
Apple is usually a company with many exclusive services because they add to its ecosystem, and although FaceTime for Android and Windows does not work exactly the same as in Apple products, it is a first step to be able to use more services than those of Cupertino without the need to have one of your devices.
The above means that Apple did not create a FaceTime application for Android and Windows, but now it allows you to join a video call through a link.
Of course, an Apple product is still essential in the process, since the video call must be created on an iPhone or iPad and then shared with the rest of the participants.
To be able to join FaceTime from Android or Windows you must have Chrome or Edge updated to the latest version and follow these steps:
- Open FaceTime on an iPhone or iPad.
- The option “Copy link” appears at the top right.
- Select and share the link by WhatsApp, Telegram or other communication applications.
- If you are on Android or Windows, you just have to click on the link and voila, the video call will open in your browser.
- Put your name so that the other participants can identify you.
- Press the “Join” button and wait for the user who shared the link to allow you to enter.
- That will be enough to participate in the video call.
Remember that it is necessary to have iOS 15 or iPadOS 15, on Mac it is still not possible to share the link until the macOS Monterrey version is released.
