How to make a unit
To be able to do a unit in Humankind, first you have to have a first fundamental requirement: a city. Building a city will allow you to make units, which will end the nomadic age. To build a unit you have to go to your city and in the options on the right, go to the main production queue. From there you can select what you want to be produced, when you select it, it will form a queue that indicate the shifts you need to get what you just requested.
In addition, it is also an option to be able to buy military units with money so they are built instantly. All land units spawn in the city center, but this can also be changed if you build districts. Added to that, if you want naval units, you will have to build a port, we already talked about this in the guide on how to build your city from scratch.
How to make an army
To be able to build an army it is obvious that the first thing you need is to have ground units, if not a little army you are going to create. To create one you have to group the different units you have and, in this way, they will travel the map as a single unit and fight harder. To be able to do this, it is as simple as moving a unit to the same hex where another is, taking into account that the armies have a maximum composition. Likewise, armies can attack, claim territory and loot, Among other things, so you have to know how to use each option, as this will make the difference for your empire.
Joint actions of unit and army
There are actions that both units and armies will be able to do alike, we explain them below:
- Move: You can move a maximum distance each turn, although the slowest unit within an army will determine the maximum distance you can travel.
- Attack: It is clear that both units and armies can attack, but it is true that the latter will have much more damage and more skills to gain.
- Claim territories: You can claim territories by building a city or an outpost there.
- Automatic scan: It is an option for both a unit and an army to continue exploring on their own.
- Destroy: this action takes several turns to finish and what it does is destroy squares with buildings such as cities or outposts and grants rewards.
- Clear the forest: this action consists of removing a space from a forest for an industry boost in that same space.
- Skip a shift: as simple as that the unit or the army does not move.
