Managing and creating a website comes with a lot of responsibilities. Always be on the lookout for lots of details, to the point that we often have to find a team to work with due to the amount of work.
And, once we find the balance between all the work that can be had, there is still no great vacation to take as you always have to be active to be able to monitor the content and be able to make sure that the SEO content is being done correctly for achieve a good positioning on the web.
This is why, although it seems like a big gold mine, actually managing a website is not such an easy task, whether on Facebook or any other platform. Certain talents such as creativity and resilience are also needed to be able to advance effectively in the world of web page management.
This leads us to have to know several tricks and strategies to make the website work as we want it to. This can often be quite a challenge considering all the problems that can arise in the process. But, in the end, with the use of our ingenuity, we can get ahead.
Given this, you may want to know some little secrets for your WordPress website. That is why below we are going to talk a little about how you can increase the maximum upload size of the files you want to upload to your WordPress website.
People often run into the problem that they can’t upload high-quality images because of this, or maybe you want to upload a zip file to make it available to your visitors. Be that as it may, below we will tell you how you can solve this little problem.
Increasing the upload size of your files to WordPress with wp-config.php and functions.php
When we have hired a hosting service for our WordPress website, we can often find ourselves with the small problem of the maximum size we have to be able to upload files to our page. This can vary depending on the hosting service, but when our website depends totally on the files that we can upload or not, we are presented with a very big problem.
The good thing is that just as everything has a solution, this too. Often these file upload limits are defined within our server’s php.ini file. Although we often cannot access this type of file, there are some hosting services that do allow us to enter these and modify some things.
But, in case they don’t let you, you can always write to support and request that these values be increased. But, in case you can do it yourself, you can start with the wp-config.php file by typing the following:
define (‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘128M’);
Then, you have to go to the functions.php file and put the following lines:
@ini_set (‘upload_max_size’, ‘128M’);
@ini_set (‘post_max_size’, ‘128M’);
@ini_set (‘max_execution_time’, ‘300’);
Keep in mind that the latter will largely depend on what you want to upload, so you can change the values if you see fit.
Performing the same process through .htaccess
There are times where the changes we made previously were useless. When this happens, you have an alternative to being able to do them through the .htaccess video by typing the following:
php_valueupload_max_filesize 128M
php_valuepost_max_size 128M
php_valuemax_execution_time 300
php_valuemax_input_time 300
Now, if none of this has helped you, you also have an option that may not be ideal but does the trick when you need it with a very punctual file. We can assume that you need to upload a zip file that is roughly 500MB.
For this, you will have to create a zip file that has a text file inside with nothing. Now, you must upload this to the multimedia library and then go to your server by FTP and find the file that you have uploaded and then rewrite it with the large file that you wanted to upload.
