We can link to our LG Smart TV any sound device that we are interested in using to improve the experience or get the most out of your TV. LG allows you to add a Bluetooth speaker, for example, but you can also add sound bars connected through this type of connection if you want to add an ‘extra’ to the audio that we have by default on the TV.
Of course, we must take a number of things into account. For example, as they explain from the brand itself, we can only have a simultaneous connection to Bluetooth to the TV so we cannot use two devices at the same time. That is to say, You can’t have your mobile connected to the TV and also connect a speaker or a sound bar. You will not be able to reproduce sound through an audio bar if the phone is connected but you will have to choose one option or another.
Connect speaker or headphones via Bluetooth
As explained from LG, it will be your television (in most cases) that will recognize any Bluetooth device that is nearby and automatically asks you whether or not you want to pair it as long as the speaker or earphone is turned on and in the pairing position, for example. In these cases we would do it automatically by following the steps that appear on the screen without having to access the TV settings. But they may not always link automatically and we have to do it manually from the settings.
From settings
The steps may change slightly from one television to another depending on the model you have, but the process will be very similar in any case.
- Let’s go to the LG TV settings
- We look for the Additional Settings section
- Go to the Sound section
- Look for the option “Sound output” between settings
- All available sound output options will appear here
We must bear in mind that if it is the first time you connect this Bluetooth device you will have to choose “Device selection” at this point. Here you will find what devices are near you and you can link them when you tap on “Search”. Keep in mind that we must follow the instructions for each speaker. Generally, we will have to press for a few seconds or minutes a button that allows us to activate the “pairing” mode. Once they link, we just pick it from the list.
On the menu “Bluetooth”We will see all the devices that have been previously connected. If it is a device that you have previously connected, it will appear in the list and we will simply have to choose. Once you have selected the device you want from all those available, a notification will appear on the TV indicating that the connection has been made successfully. You will see at the top something like “Device name is connected”. And you can start using it normally until you repeat the process to connect another.
For you
We can also use voice control of the TV using the Magic Control. Not all televisions of the brand have this remote but you can follow these steps if yours is compatible and you have voice control. It’s faster and will only take a few seconds connect any device that you want or have on hand.
Just go to the Magic Control controller and hold down the icon of the microphone in command. Once it is pressed, you should say “Bluetooth” and it will automatically scan which devices are nearby and are compatible. An on-screen notification will appear asking if you want to connect to * device name *. Confirm and a message will appear on the screen indicating that it has been linked successfully. You can start using it normally.
Play content
We can play content through Bluetooth in a simple way. I mean, we can send content to mobile TV or from the computer to play. Here what we do is not connect a speaker or a sound bar or headphones but the process is just the opposite: we are looking for a device to send content to the TV and start listening to music. For example, through Spotify and controlling from the mobile phone.
- Access the Home menu of your LG TV
- Go to Home Panel
- A Serie of sections: devices for home, input …
- Go to Audio Playback on the left side of the screen
- You will see a message stating: “Connect your smartphone to the TV via Bluetooth to play music on your smartphone through the TV speakers ”In addition, you will see the name of the television to connect.
What you will have to do at that moment is to go to your mobile phone or tablet and connect to Bluetooth. The process will vary Depending on the model or operating system, but go to the wireless connection section and the devices that we can connect to from here will appear. Among them, you will see the name of your TV and you simply have to touch to connect. Both devices will pair and simply we will access a player on the TV that gives us the option to control the music, listen to what we want, etc.
Other devices
If you do not want to connect a headset or mobile phone but simply want to know how to connect a Bluetooth device of any type, a video game controller or a keyboard, we can access the user guide of paired devices where we will see all the available options and the complete process, step by step.
- Go to the menu your LG TV settings
- Look for the Connection section in the menu on the left
- Go to “Device connector” in this menu
- Here we will see a preview with devices that can be linked via Bluetooth to your TV: smartphone, PC, console, speakers, player …
- Use controller control to choose the one you want
When you choose the device that interests you, on the TV you will see a step-by-step guide on what we must do to connect. It is interesting to note that there is this guide in case all the steps explained above do not work for your device or if you are looking for other options such as USB connector, screen sharing …
