What is the use of changing the data of a photo or video
If you do not usually pay much attention to the details of each image or video in the gallery and your entry is sporadic, surely you will not see the importance of changing this type of data. Certainly, when you make a change to this type of data in the Photos app, it is to order the gallery and put it to your liking. Especially since it is an old photo, one that has been imported from another device or there is an error in the metadata of the photo or video directly.
As you should already know, each file in the gallery has related information, such as the location of the image (it does not always appear), a date and a time to remember when it was made. It is called EXIF information, which details all this information about the origin of the image.
This information is located just after the name, which also details what iPhone camera it is, the format of the image or if it has been captured as Live Photos. Below you can display lens details, photo ISO, and other more advanced details. Finally, it contains a map with the location of the image or video.
How to change the location, date and time in the Photos app with iOS 15
To be able to make corrections in a photo or modify some data with the simple objective of ordering your bulky gallery, you have to follow a few very simple steps. All this from the iPhone directly, without having to resort to a Mac.
Set the time and date
First, open the Photos app from your iPhone. Remember that it must be updated to iOS 15 to have this option available. Next, you have to choose any image or video from the gallery that you want to modify its data. Open the file and wait for a bar at the bottom of the screen.
When it shows, you will see some configuration options, such as sharing multimedia content, locating it in the ‘Favorites’ section, consulting information or removing it from the gallery. You have to stop at that third information icon, which comes in the form of a “i“in blue. If you press it, the interface will take you to another screen where you can modify the different parameters that we have mentioned.
To do this, right next to the date and time you will have a button called “Adjust“From there you will see a kind of calendar where you can change the date, time and time zone, but not the location. For that, you have to follow another route.
Change the date
Regarding the location of the photo or video, you have to go back and click on the “i “of information. Once there, you will see a reduced size map, just below the time and date. If you press it, it will be expanded to full screen and the option “Edit“at the top. By accessing it, you can search the direction you want for the image and choose between the different options offered by the interface.
Those are all the options you have in the Photos app in iOS 15 to change data for images and videos. As you can see, it is a very simple process, like other tricks such as shared albums in Photos, either from your iPhone or from your iPad.
