Netflix announced that as of May 23, its subscribers in Mexico (and other Latin American countries) will begin to receive an email warning about the imminent blocking of external users with whom you share or try to share your Netflix account.
“Your Netflix account is for you and the people you live with. Starting today, we’re offering new features to help you better manage access to your account. You will be able to continue watching Netflix easily when you travel or are away from home”, wrote the platform in social networks.
Extra member: The new Netflix feature
In case you want to pay to share your account with someone who lives in a different household than you, Netflix launched the ‘Extra member’ functionbut only for subscribers within the Standard or Premium plan; that is, it will not apply to the Standard plans with ads or Basic. Likewise, it is not available for now for those who purchase the service through external providers.
The extra member will have their own profile, their own account and password, but the entire membership will be paid for by the person who invited them to join.
First, the account holder must purchase an extra member slot. After making the payment, you must make the invitation by logging in to ‘Extra member’.
If you do it through the web browser you must configure your account by entering the name of the new user, your email address and your name. The bonus member will receive an email from Netflix with a unique invite link, and you will receive a notification when they activate their account.
In case of doing it in the application of a television, you will be asked to enter the phone number of the extra member you are inviting. They will receive a text message with an invitation link that will expire in 24 hours. In the same way, you will be notified when the extra member completes the process.
It is important to add that the extra members must activate their account in the same country associated with the holder.
How much more will I have to pay?
add a ‘Extra member’ will have a cost of $69 pesos per month for each additional user. In the case of the Standard plan you can only add 1 extra member, while Premium subscribers can add up to 2 extra members.

Are there differences between the owner’s account and the extra members’ account?
Yes. Although Extra members can watch and download Netflix content on any device, they can only do so on one device at a time. Additionally, they can only have one profile and do not have the option to create additional ones.
