Go Friday, a leading brand in floating architecture, shares concern with SOA (The Miami School of Architecture) about how the actions of this century will affect the future. More critically, how the climate change challenges current assumptions and conditions, and poses two fundamental questions for coastal and riverine communities: how to adapt to the extreme heat? And to the increase in sea level? Thus, last May, the Miami School of Architecture and Go Friday came together to design for tomorrow by calling an ingenious contest.
SOA students, as an architectural design studio, thus have the opportunity to investigate approaches to floating architecture, suggesting how it may contribute to greater habitability in the imminent future. With advanced knowledge in this field and advancing applications based on buoyancy and density principles to ensure stability, GOFRIDAY has already developed successful houseboat prototypes and has established his company as a world leader in the field.
The Competition Jury is made up of prominent personalities and experts in architecture, engineering, design and technology: Eduardo Souto Moura (Pritzker), Guta Moura Guedes, Manuel Pedro Ivens Collares-Pereira, Samuel Gonçalves. The contest will end in july when the Jury must select 3 proposals that will also win a financed trip to Lisbon in Portugal, an economic reward. Students will have the opportunity to discuss their projects with the GO FRIDAY team.
The GO FRIDAY houseboats, called FLOATWING, are characterized by their state-of-the-art technology, which combines the luxury of a house on land with the mobility of a boat. All technical features such as engines, air conditioning or combustion heaters are customizable and energy autonomy reaches 100% during the summer months.
Dedicated to serving the leisure and leisure market with high professional standards, GO FRIDAY fosters a young, responsible yet carefree corporate culture consistent with the weekend spirit that inspired the brand.
