“What is happening at the border may seem modest, but it is very important,” he stressed.
“You Americans know very well that if war breaks out in the region, your fleets will be of no use,” he said. “Those who will pay the price will be… their interests, their soldiers and their fleets,” he said. “To the enemy who may be thinking of attacking Lebanon or carrying out a preventive operation, we say that it would be the greatest stupidity of his existence,” he insisted.
Washington asks “not to take advantage” of the war
His statements coincided with the visit of the head of US diplomacy, Antony Blinken, to Israel, where he asked for humanitarian “pauses” in the Gaza Strip.
The White House said Hezbollah should not take advantage of the conflict between Hamas and Israel, and that the United States does not want the conflict to spill over into Lebanon.
Since the outbreak of the war, the Pentagon has deployed two aircraft carriers to the eastern Mediterranean, for deterrent purposes to prevent the conflict from spreading.
Nasrallah said Hezbollah was not afraid of warships.
“We have prepared well for their fleets, with which they threaten us,” said Nasrallah, whose arsenal includes anti-ship missiles.
The Hezbollah leader thanked the groups from Yemen and Iraq, which are part of the so-called “Axis of Resistance”, for their participation in the battle against Israel.
The “axis” includes Iraqi Shiite Muslim militias, who have fired on US forces in Syria and Iraq, and Yemen’s Houthis, who have joined the conflict by firing drones at Israel.
