Yesterday it was revealed that PlayStation had acquired Haven Studios, the team run by Jade Raymond. While during the initial statement from him, Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, spoke about what this announcement means, it has recently been revealed why this was the next studio to join Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch and more.
In a chat with GamesIndustry.biz, Hulst has revealed that the reason they decided to acquire Haven Studios, is that this team shows great potential, and they are very excited about what is unfolding here. This was what he commented:
“What Haven is creating is so exciting to us that there was a desire to deepen that relationship. It’s easier for us to invest more deeply into the team and the game this way. We are very impressed with the progress made. In fact, they are exceeding many of the plans, including in terms of time, which is unusual in game development.”
With this, Hulst is also happy to finally have a team from Canada., specifically in Montreal, where many companies have top-tier studios. Although we still don’t know very well what Haven Studios is working on, this project will be a PS5 exclusive with social elements, so this title could well be part of the games as a service that PlayStation wants to launch before 2026.
