Lucifer showrunner Joe Henderson revealed in an interview for Collider that this animated episode was an idea that he handled seasons before, and thanks to the COVID pandemic, the opportunity was given to make it happen.
“I didn’t think I’d ever do it, because it’s such a company… We were looking for ways to have fewer days on set. Then the problem became the opportunity, because I had secretly wanted to do it for years”.
Harley Quinn’s team and their help to Lucifer
For the making of episode 3 of season 6, the producers of Lucifer approached the animation team of another DC Comics series, Harley Quinn, who helped crystallize the idea.
“We were very lucky, because we had this incredibly lucky window of time where you have these animators who can bring so much humanity to cartoons. And so was this wonderful confluence”.
Lucifer stars Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar, Lauren German as Detective Chloe Decker, DB Woodside as Amenadiel, Rachael Harris as Dr. Linda Martin, Kevin Alejandro as Det. Dan Espinoza, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen Smith and Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez.
