The latest video from 343 Industries has revealed just how big the Halo Infinite Winter Update. As well as being a completely free update, it will be released on November 8th and will add things like network co-op campaign and long overdue Forge modes. 343 has shared a glimpse of what you can expect in a nearly 13-minute video posted on Wednesday.
With the addition of the cooperative campaign, you will be able to play the game’s campaign with three of your friends. The mode was delayed from the game’s original release throughout the year, though 343 eventually brought it forward in a test in July. In addition to the network co-op campaign, 343 will also add mission replayability, which was a notable omission at Infinite’s launch. Secondly, this iconic map of Halo 3 will have a remake of Halo Infinite.
Halo Infinite Winter Update
Another important addition to the Halo Infinite winter update is Forge mode to be released in beta, which will allow players to create their own maps and multiplayer modes. It’s been a staple of the series since Halo 3, and in Halo Infinite it looks like it’ll offer a solid set of tools and even a powerful visual scripting language.
For multiplayer, one of the biggest changes coming in Halo Infinite’s winter update is a new system that gives you XP just for playing. Halo Infinite’s current progression system relies heavily on completing challenges to level up, which has been a common source of frustration for many players. This new XP per match system should make it easier to progress without needing to overcome specific challenges.
343 will also add two new Forge-built maps and a new mode. The Halo Infinite Winter Update is only a few weeks away, with more to come next year. The third season will be released on March 7th and will add things like new maps to Arena and Grand Team Battle modes and an in-game reporting system.
