This month Square Enix made a presentation with its financial results in the third quarter of fiscal year 2022-23, where it revealed some details of the performance of its latest releases. Speaking of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxythe company revealed that the game of Eidos Montréal it sold less than they expected at its launch, but they intend to create new strategies to boost their sales.
The Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game was released in October of last year, and it was one of the surprises of the year because it had barely been announced by Square Enix during E3 2021. However, since its announcement, players had remained skeptical the quality of the game, because we had just gone through the bad experience that was Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers. This could have been the cause of the low sales of the game at its launch, as it enjoyed very good reviews.
Despite strong reviews, the game’s sales at launch were less than our initial expectations. However, the sales initiatives that we started in November 2021 and continued into the new year resulted in sales growth, and we intend to continue to expand sales to offset the title’s slow start.”

In my review of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy I said that we were before the best super production of 2021, because it is a very well done experience from start to finish, with incredible graphics, a good story, very funny dialogues and a gameplay focused on making you feel like a true team leader. Actually, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy it’s so good that it could rub elbows with the best comic-based games.
