“The San Martín mine operates in Zacatecas based on the free decision of the majority of its workers,” the conglomerate said in a statement sent to the Mexican Stock Exchange.
The US request came after a complaint by the Los Mineros union and two major American labor organizations, the AFL-CIO and the United Steelworkes.
According to the latest annual report of the Mining Chamber of Mexico, the complex stands out in the national territory for hosting the eleventh largest copper production, having accumulated the extraction of just over 3,000 ounces of this mineral at the end of 2021. However, when comparing the figure against the immediately previous year, it resulted in a drop of 14.4%.
Regarding zinc production, the complex occupies the fourteenth position, with an approximate extraction of 17,110 ounces at the end of the year in question. Unlike the exploitation of copper, in this case the levels observed meant an increase of 17% per year.
