Marvel Games has shed some more light on the Great Unifier Raker and the Universal Church of Truth, revealed yesterday in the new Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy cinematic.
The new Eidos-Montréal cinematic is accompanied by a commentary from Marvel Games Vice President Creative Bill Rosemann, offering new insight into the history of a potential new threat in Marvel’s Guardians of the galaxy.
Bill Rosemann, Creative Vice President of Marvel Games, uses his insights to shed some more light on the Great Unifier Raker and the Universal Church of Truth, revealed yesterday in the new cinematic for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. In this video, Bill, former editor of the comics from Guardians of the Galaxy from 2008 to 2010, he explains the origins of the fanatic with cybernetic enhancements and the enigmatic organization, who claim to carry his “Promise” across the galaxy.
In this cinematic we see Star-Lord and his crew face to face with the menacing Grand Unifier Raker, flanked by two of his towering bodyguards, the Inquisitors. Despite Rocket’s shots, Grand Unifier Raker shows no interest (for the time being) in harming the Guardians, instead intending to introduce them to the mysterious Matriarch. This dramatic sequence ends with the colossal starship of the Universal Church of Truth entering the scene, engulfing Hala’s Hope and capturing the Guardians.
In the words of Bill Rosemann: “The close collaboration with the Eidos-Montréal team provided us with an incredible opportunity to delve into the Marvel archives, access its greatest ins and outs, and bring to life characters never seen outside of the pages of the classic comics. The Great Unifier Raker, the Universal Church of Truth, and previously revealed characters like Lady Inferno and Cosmo are just a taste of what fans will find in the game’s new universe, shaped by decades of storytelling. Marvel. It’s original, quirky and 100% Guardians! ”.
