The relationship between grandparents and grandchildren is very special: according to studies in psychology, both have the ability to learn and discover at a very similar rate, which is why their relationship is full of respect and trust.
But there is something that grandparents are aware of and children are not: it is about the passage of time. For a child, it can be the same 10 minutes as an hour; that is, they are not concerned with time. Maybe that’s why we adults despair more easily.
And that is also why for grandparents the time they have to enjoy their grandchildren seems so short. There are grandparents who can’t wait for the next weekend for their grandchildren to visit them, or the holidays, to be able to take care of them a little more.
So if you are a grandpa, it is very important that you know how to make the most of the time you have with your grandchildren. We tell you how:
IDEAS TO FURTHER STRENGTHEN YOUR LOVE BOND
Include them in your routine: are you going to prepare a delicious dessert for them? Before doing so, think about how they could help you without feeling like it could be dangerous for them. They can try some cookies, or make simple snacks.
Show them your memories and play at the same time: get an album and print some photos with important memories for you, and tell them anecdotes about those photos. Ask your grandchildren to help you glue them together, and also include pictures of them!
Make a family tree with cutouts: how important it is for children to know their family history! So get a large bond sheet, down, color, or paint, and play with your grandchildren to make your family tree. They will love it!
Watch a movie together: Do you have a favorite movie from when you were a kid? Watch with your grandchildren, and then tell them to share with you which one is the favorite.
Take a nap together: resting in harmony will serve you and increase your confidence. Instruct your grandchildren to let you know when they wake up so they are not left alone.
