Two weeks have passed since the release of Grand Touring 7 on PS4 and PlayStation 5, a single-player game that was criticized for requiring a permanent internet connection. This has resulted in players being unable to play offline or in the event of server crashes, which is currently happening and has PlayStation gamers upset.
PolyphonyDigital I had planned to perform maintenance on the Gran Turismo 7 servers yesterday Thursday morning, but for some reason this has been extended for more than a day, disabling the game for all its players. The maintenance was only supposed to last two hours, but so far it takes more than 30 hours.

The official Gran Turismo Twitter account released a statement yesterday, a couple of hours after maintenance was due to end. In this statement the team said that they found a bug in the 1.07 update and would extend the maintenance period.
The Gran Turismo account said it would notify its players once the maintenance is over and appreciates their patience, but most of the feedback was from disgruntled players. The permanent requirement to the internet is only one of the problems, as the players are also annoyed with the adjustments to rewards in Gran Turismo 7.

Since its launch, the microtransaction model that Gran Turismo 7 manages has been criticized, because while in GT Sport it was possible to buy DLC cars for $4 dollars or less, in GT7 these same cars cost up to 10 times more. All cars in Gran Turismo 7 are earned with in-game currency, but microtransactions are incentivized by the game.
It seems that this is going to get worse with the new update, since the few users who managed to access the game yesterday noticed that the rewards for the races had been reduced, which makes it take longer to obtain the necessary points to buy new cars without resorting to microtransactions.
