Goodbye to one of the reference models of the Japanese brand in the B segment. The Mazda CX-3 will leave the product range at the end of 2021, without change, since its space will be filled by the immediately superior model in the offer, the CX-30, according to a Polish report. A commercial life that has only reached one generation, a consequence of the new strategy of the Japanese manufacturer.
The Mazda cx-3 It was one of the great novelties of the brand at the 2014 Los Angeles Show, going on sale in spring 2015 in the main European countries. The Hiroshima firm was entering the segment of the B-SUV with a very attractive bet and a more Premium character just when the Mazda2 was practically dying.
In 2018 it received a slight facelift that allowed it to remain an important option, also improving this year by betting on greater efficiency. The CX-3 has been sold in the United States, but was withdrawn last spring because it did not meet the objectives set by the brand. AND by the end of the year it will also disappear from the European market, so those interested in this model can hurry to go to the dealerships, because its cessation of production is scheduled for December.
The Mazda CX-30 will fill the gap of the CX-3 from 2022
And it is something that was seen coming in view of the new strategy that Mazda presented a few weeks ago, announcing the arrival of four new models to the world market: the CX-60 and CX-80 to Europe and Japan and the CX- 70 and CX-90 to the United States. All four have a common denominator, and that is that their business name has two numeric digits, and not just one, so it was all an indication that the brand plans a total repositioning.
The cessation of production has been leaked in a Polish magazine, through a statement by one of the heads of the public relations department of Mazda Motor Poland, who pointed out that “We are finishing accepting orders for the Mazda CX-3, the last units for Europe will be produced in December, and we do not plan to order more because they will arrive in 2022. ” Of course, the European division of the brand has not officially confirmed this point.
A single generation that will not even be seven years old, and that will not have a concrete replacement, despite the fact that it has been a guarantee of quality for customers as it has been manufactured for our continent, and other markets, in Japan. The space left by the CX-3 will be occupied by the CX-30 which, despite being more expensive, is larger and offers a more attractive and sporty design provided by a more sloping and coupe-shaped rear.
