It must be recognized that the transformation that the body makes of food to be assimilated is a fascinating and essential process. However, understanding that good digestion is synonymous with health, vitality, well-being and quality of life, is a real challenge, because few are aware of it. Especially today where the hectic lifestyle and processed products swarm as a quick alternative, without exposing the associated damage.
Hence, symptoms such as abdominal pain, inflammation, gas, heartburn, diarrhea or constipation, are part of the daily life of a large number of people in the world. Mainly due to the lack of healthy habits, conscious eating, physical activity and mental strength. In, but, there is always time to prevent or correct, for the proper functioning of our body.1
Going back to nature helps with good digestion
It is clear that the body needs nutrients from food; both solid and liquid; to function optimally. Therefore, it is necessary to supply the body with proteins, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, in a balanced and natural way. Through vegetables, fruits, grains, meats and probiotics, which become the main source of energy, growth and cell repair.1
In this way, we find that good digestion initially depends on the quantity and quality of the food and beverages that are ingested. Since, according to the products that the human being consumes, a chain of factors is derived, which imply health or disease for the individual. Especially, because poor nutrition leads to obesity, hypertension, diabetes, coronary problems and risk of stroke.2
However, the process of food transformation also carries a network that involves different substances, such as saliva, stomach acid, digestive enzymes, pancreatic juice and bile. In addition to participating a set of hormones and nerves, which transmit signals to the brain; to complete the function; both in the hollow organs and in the solid organs that participate. Therefore, if there is an alteration in the process, good digestion is put at risk.2
There is so much to do
In fact, becoming aware of the importance of taking care of digestive health opens the door to a world of options to maintain good digestion. Hence, attending to the signals that our body sends and seeking medical guidance for any unusual symptoms is an excellent health alternative.
In addition, following a few small tips and adapting them to lifestyle habits will surely make a big difference in the physiology of our body. Leading to improve not only the physical part, but also the attitude and mental availability. Hence, skipping large meals, consuming fiber and including fruit and vegetables in the daily diet will surely help to evacuate waste easily and protect the intestinal mucosa.3
Likewise, staying hydrated thanks to the sufficient consumption of water, avoiding foods rich in saturated fat and keeping moving, make health and vitality on your side. Together, avoiding processed products and enjoying preparing simple foods is another alternative to maintain good digestion and reduce the risk of diseases, which can be avoided.
